The Kluang Municipal Council (MPK) has implemented a Commercial Space Rental Arrears Operation from 12 to 18 November 2025 involving several business locations under the Council's management. This operation focuses on tenants who have rental arrears and expired rental agreements. The implementation of this operation aims to reduce the Council's revenue arrears and ensure that the management of MPK's property assets is efficient, organized and sustainable.
Among the locations involved on the first day were the Kluang City Public Transport Terminal, the Kluang City Public Transport Terminal, the Uptown Business Center and several other business spaces under the control of the MPK. This operation was carried out in an integrated manner with the involvement of three main departments, namely the Property Valuation and Management Department, the Finance Department, and the Enforcement Department.
Throughout the operation, tenants identified as having rental arrears were given an official notice of demand and a period of 14 days to settle the payment. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of the rental rights in accordance with the rules and conditions of the agreement in force. Through the implementation of this operation, MPK aims to increase rental income and significantly reduce the rate of arrears, in addition to strengthening compliance discipline among tenants of the Council's commercial spaces.
