Industry and commerce play vital roles in shaping the economy of Kluang. As the second largest contributor to the economic growth of Kluang, these sectors have contributed a lot to communities in Kluang. Progress in these sectors will realise the aim in making Johor a technopolis state for the Federal Government. The State Government and Kluang Municipal Council had provided a conducive atmosphere for the development of these sectors. In addition, the role of the private sector cannot be denied, the existence of financial institutions such as Maybank, RHB Bank, Hong Leong Bank, Bank Islam, Arab Malaysian Bank and others have fuelled the development of the trade and industry sector. Loan facilities are provided by these financial institutions, especially in providing capital injection to heavy industry and small and medium industries (SMIs). This scenario can be seen by the existence of more than 500 plants that meet the 9 major industrial areas in Kluang including Mengkibol Industrial Park, Matahari Industrial Park, Sri Kluang Industrial Park, Low Kin Teek Industrial Park and others.
There are numerous factors that promote the development of industry and trade sectors such as ready supply of workforce as well as accommodation facilities, political stability and the most important is the commitment of the Authority in the providing good infrastructure facilities and communications system. Among the giant plant in Kluang is Malaysian Mosaic Bhd and Guocera Industry Malaysia Bhd, the two largest factories in producing high-quality tile products for local and export markets.
Revertex Malaysia Sdn Bhd is the world's largest latex production factory and has been operating since before the Second World War. Now the company is moving forward when a technical research centre for Asia was opened and commenced operations and in turn makes Kluang famous as a centre for research and development for rubber and polymer products in Asian region.

The existence of a number of shopping malls and supermarkets in Kluang also made the commercial sector more alive. Kluang residents are able to enjoy an array of consumer commodities encompassing various required items. There are many premises constructed to facilitate Kluang residents to make their choices. Names like Plaza Bintang Jaya at Taman Lambak, Plaza BCB at Kompleks Perhentian Bas provide dozens of business premises. While The Store at Plaza BCB, TOPS supermarket at Taman Intan and UPWELL at Star Plaza Jaya and Senyum Hypermarket at Taman Sri Kluang are among the fair price shops operating in Kluang.
The role of small traders cannot be denied. Kluang provides numerous opportunities and spaces for them to conduct their business. Every Monday at Kampung Melayu Kluang residents can buy groceries and agricultural produce at the farmers market. For those who do not have the opportunity and are busy during the day, they can visit the night market almost every night held in turn in areas. Among the areas are Kampung Melayu, Kampung Paya, Kampung Baru and in other areas that have been set.
